Masters of Pop: Meet Camberwell Community Choir

Camberwell Community Choir

Dom leads CCC – Pop-Up, as you can probably tell, is lurking behind on the dais!

Last night we rehearsed in our venue for Saturday’s Masters of Pop gig as part of Camberwell Arts Festival – the beautiful St Giles Church in Camberwell. For those of Pop-Up who missed our gig there last summer, it was their first time back since singing at Tom and Jordana’s wedding, two of our members who met in choir!

It was also a chance to sing through High on a Hill with Camberwell Community Choir,  who sang with us at St Giles last year and frankly, blew us away with their stunning singing and beautiful repertoire. We’re very lucky that Aga, Matthew and Ashley, the choir leaders – who’ve known each other since university – agreed that CCC would join us for Masters, and can’t wait to see what they sing in their set – they’ve sung at the Olympic Torch Relay, the Camberwell Scare, and have two gigs at the Young Vic coming up so it could be anything from sacred music to Thriller!

It wasn’t far for them to come as they rehearse over the road in the St Giles Centre, but it was a brilliant taste of how this lovely song will sound – although we’ve got approximately 45 members of Chaps Choir still to come, so the Sops and Altos are going to have to work double time!

Rehearsal last night sounded wonderful. St Giles is the most beautiful space with truly inspiring sound and we’re so looking forward to filling it. Tickets are available on the door at £6 or you can buy them in advance for £5.
