Join us for The Pop Up Choir’s London performances this Christmas 2012!

The Pop Up Choir is back in swing for the festive season 2012 and we’ve got three gigs lined up across London and we’re really excited to be performing new repertoire as well as some Christmas classics. We can’t wait!

We hope you can join us at one of the three gigs taking place in December:

December 14th at Brixton Village market

December 17th at Ovalhouse Theatre

December 18th on the South Bank

So crack out the thermals, mitts and mulled wine, and join us in welcoming Christmas with a good old sing-song.

We took part in a fundraiser at Ginglik near Shepherd’s Bush station on Wednesday 4th April. All in aid of Macmilan Cancer and organised by Jenni Orme who is running the London Marathon for them, it was a night of comedy with choral interludes – a perfect mix for a Wednesday night. The laughter helped us warm up the old vocal chords as well.

Comedians included Allnutt and Simpson, David McNeill, Alan Hudson and Sasha and Friends.

The new choir term begins tonight, all our gigs are annouced through our Facebook and Twitter so don’t forget to like and follow us.

The Pop-Up Choir at Brixton Village Market 30th March

The Pop-Up Choir is back for 2012

The Pop-Up Choir is back in the swing of rehearsals for the 2012 season, with a new song on the cards and some lovely new members joining our ranks. This term we’re hoping to make a proper, professional, all-singing all-dancing recording of our best, well polished numbers. So watch this space for The Pop-Up’s dulcet tones hitting the web soon.

After such an amazing December: singing two of our members down the aisle (and realising how beautiful harmonies sound in a church setting – thank you to St Giles’ Church in Camberwell for helping with this realisation) and curating an amazing night of singing, Christmas jumpers and live music at our favourite pub, The Black Prince in Kennington; we can’t wait to get stuck into the first term of 2012.

We are currently planning our gig calendar for the term and hope to have details finalised soon, so check back on the site or on our Facebook page for details of where we’ll be performing in Spring 2012.

The Pop Up Choir Christmas gig – 13th December 2011

The Pop Up Choir is back with a festive bang for Autumn/Winter 2011 and we’ve got our Christmas gig lined up at the Black Prince in Kennington. Come say hello on Tuesday 13th December and grab yourself a glass of mulled cider and enjoy the music. We have other acts performing alongside us, including another choir doing their first ever gig.

Get into the festive spirit in South London. Starting at 7.30pm. More details on the flyer below and also on our Facebook page.

Big thank you to everyone who came to see us perform at the South Bank

On Sunday during a rare moment of sunshine, The Pop Up Choir performed for a 20 minute set on the band stand in Market Square behind the Royal Festival Hall. We were all really happy with the performance, and we cut through the hangovers and performed:

  • Lump
  • Dario
  • The River Is Flowing
  • Space Oddity
  • And finally, Sledgehammer
Sledgehammer is always a crowd pleaser. Big thanks to the guys at the South Bank for inviting us to sing – we all loved singing in the sunshine. All the wonderful food at the market helped as well.

Pop Up Choir this summer on the South Bank

The Pop Up Choir crew is taking its customary summer break right now, enjoying all that London has to offer in the way of sunshine, fun and…rain. But that doesn’t stop us from flexing the vocal chords and we’re back for a special one-off summer gig. Watch out for us on the 14th August at the South Bank Centre.

More details will be released on our Facebook Page and on our Twitter feed.

We will be performing numbers new and old, including Space Oddity, Dario and Who’s That Girl.

The Pop Up Choir perform tonight in Brick Lane and Spitalfields

Tonight we’re taking one of our rehearsals on the road and giving it an airing out in East London. If you’re in the Brick Lane area come and find us! We’ll be starting at Spitalfields at 7pm and then heading down Brick Lane way. This area is tried and tested for us as we popped down to Brick Lane (just under the bridge near the Vibe Bar) after our gig at the Maiden in Shoreditch for My Big Fat Royal Wedding a few months back. You can see pictures from this gig on our Facebook page.

If you can’t join us tonight, fear not! We have a very exciting gig coming up in August (at the South Bank – check back on this blog or on our Facebook page for details nearer the time) and no doubt we’ll be on the road again before the summer is up.

Just in case you weren’t sure whether to come, we have recently added Space Oddity to our repertoire and it’s beautiful. Thanks to Dominic for another awesome arrangement.

Hope to see you all tonight.
