GIG ANNOUNCEMENT – 22 JUNE – DECADE

The Pop-Up Choir - DECADE - 22 June 2019 - Facebook event.png

DECADE: Ten years of Acappella Rabbleness

WE ARE 10 YEARS OLD!

Who can believe it?! In that time, many of us have grown up, met and married partners, had babies and yet we are still together!

Saturday 22nd June this A cappella rabble will travel up the ginger line to Hackney’s most glittery venue – The Moth Club – for a 10th birthday gig showcasing unforgettable arrangements of high-energy crowd pleasers, from pop and indie classics to spine-tingling soul from Prince, En Vogue, Mark Ronson, Fleetwood Mac, Imogen Heap, Laura Mvula and more.

Not only that, we will be joined by very a very special guest: multi award winning beatbox champion and electronic singer-songwriter SK Shlomo fresh from his tour of the UK with his debut album Surrender.

All washed down with a classic 1980’s disco. Imagine a wedding without the boring bits! You have been warned.

We will be performing with SK Shlomo in March!

★ SHMOLO – ALBUM LAUNCH @ OSLO HACKNEY

Award winning UK producer, singer-songwriter, World Loopstation Champion and record breaking beatboxer SK Shlomo has collaborated with Bjork, Damon Albarn, Basement Jaxx and Ed Sheeran, and performed at festivals and venues across the world

SK Shlomo’s successful album crowdfunding campaign tackled mental health awareness with Shlo bravely talking about his own mental health struggles for the first time in public. This led to an outpouring of support from fans and public figures.

As part of the campaign SK Shlomo launched a monthly mental health livestream series #WEARELISTENING – guests include Jason Mraz, Bill Bailey and Kodaline. The streams have reached over 150,000 viewers via Facebook Live.

“The beatboxer turns electronic singer-songwriter on the gloriously melancholic first single from his forthcoming album.” Ed Potton, The Times Essential Tracks

“SK Shlomo’s new record squares up to depression, PTSD, suicide with such style… brilliant music” Eddy Temple Morris

We are beyond excited to be part of the album launch of SURRENDER – the debut album of beatbox legend SK Shlomo along with guests The Beatbox Collective & Tilda Allie and little old us!
