Only The World Remains: A Pop Up Performance.

It’s just a regular Saturday – a group of 30-somethings hanging out in a subway with a plan to entertain art lovers.

Hopefully congregating outside the gates of MI6 under the glare of Secret Intelligence Service cameras game them some entertainment.

Despite a few riverside walkers looking somewhat bemused by our presence, those on the art walk were thoroughly entertained, and were most appreciative of the encore back at the gallery.

Thanks to Space Station Sixty Five for inviting us!

Pop-Up for Youth Music

Spring is here, and we’re full of joy. Especially because we’re doing our first gig of the year later this month. We can’t wait to share the great work we’ve been doing this term with our excellent leader Genevieve… plus it’s all for a great cause!

We’ll tell you more below this INCREDIBLE poster designed by Alto 1 Lauren.

Pop-Up for Youth Music

That’s right, the gig takes place on Tuesday 28 March at The NINES, Peckham. Join us from 8pm for a brilliant evening of music. We’ll be raising money for Youth Music as part of Give a Gig Week.

Youth Music is a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances. Facing difficult issues like poverty, homelessness, depression or bereavement.

(In this video, young people talk about how Youth Music’s work has helped them.)

The charity invests in music-making projects where they’re needed most. Each year more than 350 Youth Music projects are happening across England. That’s around 75,000 children and young people regularly making music.

These projects help young people to develop musically, of course, but they also have personal and social outcomes too. Youth Music supports young people to build their confidence, resilience, and self-esteem. To make friends, learn to trust each other, and stop anti-social behaviour. To develop vital skills they need, get support to be able to face the world, and take control of their own lives. You can read a selection of young people’s stories here.

But there’s so much more to do. Right now, Youth Music can only invest in around one third of the projects needing support. So that’s why they’ve launched Give a Gig Week.

The charity has asked supporters to put on a fundraising gig – any size, any genre, anywhere – between 24-31 March, with the aim of getting 100 gigs taking place nationwide. They’ve already smashed that target, and we’re very proud that the Pop-Up Choir’s gig will be part of it.

So come along, enjoy some great live music, and please give generously! Here’s the Facebook event so you can pop it in your calendar.

New year, New Guest MD, New Logo!

Hello Poppets!

It’s been a while since we have updated the blog – mostly because it was such an action packed end to the year.

Goodbye 2016…

Three gigs in a week in the run up to Christmas, amid all of the lurgy flying about almost killed us but we survived! And seeing as it was Christmas, we decided to pull a new tune out to celebrate….Get ready for En Vogue’s Hold on/Don’t Let Go coming to a gig near you soon!

Hello 2017…

We kick off the new year with a new face in the choir…Say hello to the wonderful Genevieve Dawson who joins us this term as guest MD. Genevieve is  Scottish singer-songwriter, and together with her her Stagg melodica “Trevor” she is working through our back catalogue with gusto!

And if that was not enough, thanks to Pop-Up superstar Lauren, who also created the Peckham Nights poster in the summer, we have had a bit of a re-brand!

…We hope you like it!
